Warts | Verrucaes

Warts | Verrucaes

Warts and Verrucae are caused by a virus called Human Papilloma (HPV).  When you contract the virus on your hands and face, a small “cauliflower-like” growth appears, known as a wart. When the virus breaks out on the sole of your foot, the pressure on the sole of the foot from daily activities does not allow the virus to grow outwards so it gets pushed back into the skin becoming verrucae, and this causes pain when walking.

Whilst the success rate of this treatment is very high, it is not 100% as some warts fail to respond despite our best efforts. verrucaes are contagious and can easily be spread in areas where people often have bare feet, such as at public swimming pools.

The treatment we use is:

CryoPen™ –  which is an advanced cryotherapy that is a fast, effective, safe and a new solution for removal of skin imperfections. Procedures typically last from 5 to 25 seconds, so you can be in and out of the clinic within 10 minutes. The CryoPen emits a fine jet of nitrous oxide under high pressure. This destroys the tissue by freezing the inter-cellular fluid, forming ice shards and crystals which rupture the membrane, thereby destroying the cell. That means there will be no collateral damage to healthy tissue. It’s so incredibly accurate and practical, with only a couple weeks downtime. Treatment time 30 mins

Some cases may require more than one treatment.
